Marine Biologist - Belize Audubon Society
Location: Half Moon Caye Natural Monument
MAIN FUNCTIONS
The marine biologist will be responsible for the implementation of the monitoring program at the BAS. This will involve conducting the monitoring of key species at Half Moon Caye and Blue Hole Natural Monument. The biologist will coordinate with the marine program manager to implement the program.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement the monitoring program for BAS.
- Prepare annual and project-related reports.
- Assist with the development of proposals based on needs of the BAS monitoring program in coordination with other program managers.
- Liaise closely with other staff on site in the implementation of program activities.
- Liaise with relevant local and international partners including GOB, NGOs and other educational partners.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- A Natural Resources, Science, Marine Biology or Biology qualification (Minimum of Bachelor’s degree, preferably a Master’s degree).
- Background in biology.
- At least three years experience in project management, good planning, communication and presentation skills, experience in fundraising, experience of working with various targeted audiences including schools and members of the general population, Ngo’s and GOB; familiarization with popular education, adult education, and/or participatory methodologies.
- Experience in diving, monitoring and reporting is required to be able to implement the monitoring program.
- Excellent organizational, written and verbal skills required.
- Ability to travel and be able to attend events and other off-site functions if needed.

Salary: Negotiable, depending on qualifications and experience.
